Hotel Review Tauern Spa Kaprun, Salzburg/Austria

  • Michaela
  • December 21, 2022

Salzburg, Austria. Private Stay. Hotel Review Tauern Spa Kaprun.

Location

With the best view of the Kitzsteinhorn, the Tauern Spa is located in Kaprun and thus very close to the popular winter sports resort of Zell am See. Wherever the eye looks – imposing peaks rise into the sky all around. The highlight is and remains the glacier view of the Kitzsteinhorn. The Tauern Spa can be reached from almost all directions via the A10, the Tauern freeway, and the Bischofshofen exit. At least from the north, south and east. Guests arriving from Germany, i.e. from the west, are recommended to take the German A8 and the route via the (depending on the departure) Kleine or Große Deutsche Eck.

Style & Character

Green and clean with lush decoration and details that attract curious glances. Harmony runs visibly through the furnishing concept in the choice of colors and materials. In 2019, the Tauern Spa has expanded and extended, with new additions such as the nature rooms.

Amenities & Service

From the practically stocked minibar to the cozy bathrobe to the fragrant shower gel, nothing is missing in terms of standards. The service is friendly all around – the young waitress Vanessa stood out, who was on the job with know-how and especially with her super Schmäh in the morning and evening.

Rooms

Chic, simple and with a great view of the Hohe Tauern. Or was it the Pinzgau grass mountains? No matter, the peaks beckon on all sides, attracting summer and winter sports enthusiasts alike. Connoisseurs can watch them from the comfort of the wellness area. Pleasing: The WC is a closed room. We don’t find modern, hip, glass and open toilets all that great.

Food & Drinks

Everyone who fell in love with the buffet in the evening (the main course is neatly arranged according to the choice from the menu), will be amazed the morning after: Yes, it’s even better. But one after the other.

Already at check-in we were happy about a glass of homemade soda. After the first test in the hotel spa, we went to dinner. The appetizer buffet left us amazed with a salmon draped whole and various variations of the smoked fish. The salads, antipasti, soups, the hot appetizers prepared in front of our noses: wun-der-bar. Likewise on the second and on the third evening. The main course – even though the buffet is really lush and we could always get more – should be a bit bigger. The venison loin tastes like more, as does the perfectly braised beef roulade.

In the morning there was great joy at the fine selection of hot and cold dishes. Porridge, yogurts, juice bar, sausages, ham, freshly baked bread – this is what breakfast and brunch heaven could look like. Those with a sweet tooth will find pancakes, waffles and even Kaiserschmarrn, while those who prefer hearty dishes can collect regional delicacies from SalzburgerLand on their plates.

What we loved

May have noticed that our heart belonged absolutely and completely to the first and last meal of the day?! The fact that the hotel spa is reserved for house guests is top. And so is the infinity pool with a view of the Kitzsteinhorn.

What could be a little better?

About a table trashcan at breakfast and a few more bath towels to swap in the hotel spa. That’s it.

Perfect for

As a couple, we were very happy that kids and teens can romp to their hearts’ content in the public area and not in the hotel spa. Most of the guests, younger and older, came as a duo, just like us, and the Tauern Spa is also a great place to go for girlfriend time. Still stuffed from breakfast and lying highly satisfied in the spa, we were unanimous: We will be back.
